As a music therapist, she understands the effects of sound on the brain; she tugs at the jagged edges of soft sounds to extract sharp feelings. Layering is a common theme throughout all of her disciplines, whether it be with sound, textile, or paper, collage is a conceptual through line, constantly flirting with the idea that fragments can be pieced together to make a new scape.
Using piano, guitar, found sound from her own field recordings, and her classically trained voice, elizabeth extracts the divinity from the mundane, fuses the grotesque to the holy, and finds the sensual in the spiritual.
bella figlia, elizabeth joan harris, is a multidisciplinary, genre- fluid artist and sound designer.
